Billing Policy

Transition to Mixed Billing Model

Hanson Medical Centre has transitioned from exclusively bulk billing to a mixed billing model. This change is aimed at maintaining the high quality of care and services we provide to our patients. Doctors at this practice experienced, autonomous and independent. They bulkbill their consultations for pensioners, concession card holders, children under 16 years old and first nations people between 8am and 5.45pm Monday to Friday. Other patients are privately billed. This means that ineligible patients will incur an out-of-pocket fee.

Our dedicated staff ensures a streamlined process, guiding patients through claiming rebates to offset costs.

Billing Information

• Bulk Billing: The following categories of patients will continue to be bulk billed for consultations during weekdays between 8am and 5.45pm.
  • Pensioners
  • Concession card holders
  • Children under 16 years of age
  • First Nations People
• Private Billing: All other patients will be privately billed. This means that:
  • Patients will incur an out-of-pocket fee for their consultation.
  • Payment of the fee is required upon arrival at the clinic.
  • After the consultation, our dedicated front desk staff will assist you with processing and claiming rebates to help offset the cost.

Treatment Room Charges

There will be a fee for use of treatment room. You will be informed of the fee before any procedure.

Surgical Procedures

Please note that our doctors perform a variety of procedures that may attract private fees. You will be informed of any applicable fees during your consultation.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with these changes. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to ask our friendly staff.

• Cancellation Policy: We kindly request that you inform us at least 2 hours prior to your appointment if you are unable to make it.
• Cancellation Procedure: If you cannot reach us over the phone, please email us at care@hansonmedicals.com.au at least 2 hours before your appointment.
• Non-Attendance Fee: Patients who miss their appointment without notice as mentioned above will be charged a Non-Attendance fee of $40, which cannot be claimed through Medicare and must be paid in full before your next visit.

 

Longer Appointments

• For Multiple Conditions: For patients needing to discuss three or more conditions, we kindly ask that you schedule a longer appointment. If a standard consultation is scheduled, we will address the most pressing issue, and another appointment will be necessary to discuss additional concerns.
• Recommendation for New Patients: For new patients, we recommend booking a longer consultation. Although longer appointments incur higher fees, the out-of-pocket expense, or “gap,” remains relatively consistent.
• Comprehensive Care: Doctors endeavour to offer comprehensive care within the allocated consultation time. It is therefore crucial that patients book appointments accordingly. We are mindful that every patient’s need should be attended to during the time of their appointment. Doctors running late causes frustration to those waiting.

 

Medical Examinations

• Booking Instructions: For those seeking medical examinations for their driver’s license or other purposes, please mention the purpose of your appointment and clearly communicate the type of medical exam needed to our receptionist if booking by phone.
• Required Forms: Ensure all required forms are completed before hand, including relevant sections.
• Identification: Additionally, bring along a valid form of identification, such as your driver’s license, and your glasses if applicable
